Anthony Michael Hall was born April 14th, 1968, in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, to parents Mercedes Hall (an actress and blues/jazz singer) and Larry Hall (a truck driver). Growing up working-class was part of his daily experience; being the youngest of three siblings also contributed significantly to this upbringing.
Hall’s parents divorced when he was six, leading him and his siblings to New York City with his mother. There, he began developing an interest in acting and attending the Professional Children’s School – an esteemed institution known for training Sarah Jessica Parker and Scarlett Johansson, among others.
At eight years old, Hall made his first on-screen appearance in a commercial for a toy called Honeycomb Hideout.
Subsequently, he would appear in several more commercials and television series before landing his breakthrough role in “National Lampoon’s Vacation” when he was 14.
